FAQs

Personal calculators are not allowed on the ACCUPLACER, but some sections provide an on-screen calculator for certain questions. This ensures standardized testing conditions and fairness among all test-takers.

The ACCUPLACER math sections cover Arithmetic, Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Advanced Algebra and Functions. These areas assess a range of mathematical abilities needed for college success, providing a comprehensive evaluation of a student’s skills.

The number of questions varies depending on the specific math test you take. Classic ACCUPLACER contains 17 arithmetic, 12 elementary algebra, and 20 advanced algebra questions; whereas the next-generation assessment includes 20 arithmetic, 20 QAS, and 20 advanced algebra questions.

The ACCUPLACER test does not allow you to skip questions and return to them later. You must answer each question before moving on to the next.

Many students find algebraic expressions and advanced functions to be the most challenging. Practicing these types of questions can help build your confidence and improve your performance ahead of the assessment.

The level of math you should study depends on the sections you’ll be taking. For the Arithmetic section, focus on basic math skills. For QAS and AAF, you’ll need to study more advanced algebra and function concepts.

The reading section was alright, but I found the rhetoric part a bit confusing. It didn’t really help me as much as I hoped. But, to be honest this is the onlly resource on the internet that covers to this level - I recommend to anyone who is nervus about the ACCUPLACER test.
